BASIC FUNCTIONS:
This position requires a certified teacher for the purpose of teaching skills needed for success in the world of work and business management, marketing, financial services, and entrepreneurship to students at the intermediate and/or high school level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Possess all requirements for teaching business education
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and develops workplace attitudes
- Has working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, and current researched best practices and strategies, and students’ learning styles and needs
- Update the curriculum to meet changing IN state standards and College & Career Pathways for Business Management, Marketing, Financial Services, and Entrepreneurship
- Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for students and communicates those to students and their families
- Provide appropriate instruction for students to earn dual credits with post-secondary institutions when appropriate
- Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting, as well as multicultural, gender-fair, disability sensitive. Selects, adapts, and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills
- Teaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving
- Manage the behavioral, social, and emotional issues of a diverse ethnic/racial student population
- Integrate common core standards for reading, writing and math skills into the curriculum
- Participates in ongoing and regular staff and individual professional development
- Demonstrate experience implementing innovative instructional programs
- Collaborates and communicates regularly with families in making educational decisions and uses family and community resources
- Regularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessment
- Collaborates with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students
Minimum qualifications:
- Must hold a current Indiana License/Certification
Working Conditions:
- Mental demands: (the following are examples) calculating, comparing, problem-solving, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting analyzing, planning, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing, and presenting.
- Physical Demands: (the following are examples) sitting, standing, crouching, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs, adjusting, connecting; lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 40 lbs.; bending, keyboarding, pulling, pushing, balancing, writing, walking, and operating equipment.
- Environmental Conditions: (the following are examples) mostly inside but can be exposed to extreme weather conditions if traveling, wet and/or slippery surfaces, exposure to air-borne particulates, chemical irritants, biological exposure, exposure to communicable diseases, working around moving objects, and working alone
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to drive to meetings or work sites before, during, or after the normal working day.
Compensation
- Starting salary for new teachers with 0 years' experience will be $46,000 for SY24-25. Compensation increases with experience and education, according to the current salary placement schedule. (Placement to be assessed during the onboarding process and includes prior employment verifications.)
