Position Title: Chief of  Assessment, Accountability, and Strategic 


Salary Range: Chief/Assistant Superintendent Salary Schedule


Contract Length: July 1-June 30


Immediate Supervisor: Superintendent


Basic Function:
Responsible for providing strategic and tactical support by analyzing and interpreting data to provide
informed decisions. Oversees, coordinates, delegates, and performs data analysis according to requests
from Cabinet and other administrators. Provides data interpretation and presents findings to decision
makers and other stakeholders. Works with the Technology Department in developing plans for data
collection and presentation projects.

 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Oversee strategic evaluations for District programs and Strategic Follow-Up. Monitor and
analyze South Bend Schools programs, practices, and systems for educational effectiveness;
respond to administrative input concerning related needs; provide procedural guidance in the
development and implementation of programs, practices, systems, policies, and procedures
to enhance educational effectiveness, student achievement, and learning
2. Lead and oversee all aspects of Research and Evaluation
3. Conduct interviews with stakeholders to ascertain data needs, and determine appropriate
metrics to guide department planning and performance measurement. Oversee and adhere to
the requirements of projects
4. Apply and share knowledge of multiple data visualization techniques, presenting complex
information clearly and concisely in both spoken and written formats
5. Provide data interpretation and presentations to the Superintendent, Cabinet, School Board.
Participate in the development and implementation of District strategies to evaluate
operational and instructional activities. Assist administrators in utilizing and interpreting
student test scores and performance data. Serve as a collaborator and thought-partner
6. Lead and provide support for project management tools across multiple departments
7. Verify, approve, and closely monitor Federal, State and District strategic dashboards,
public-facing data sites, and the dissemination of all District data requests
8. Design, implement, and interpret a wide range of research methodologies
9. Participate with cross-departmental teams on cost analysis, including the ability to apply
simulations in assessing program effectiveness and forecasting future impact
10. Maintain current knowledge of educational methods, practices, theories, and standards
related to school improvement, accountability, student achievement, the use of data to guide

instruction, and related laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures; develop and
implement new and innovative educational programs and support services
11. Coordinate all data for grants
12. Oversee District Dashboards, SMART goals, ROI, Cohorts, and PowerSchool
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

 

 

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Business, Education or any related field. Must
have strong planning, administrative, supervisory, analytical, computer, organizational, accountability,
and oral and written communications skills. Incumbents must possess knowledge of the
comprehensive organization, operations policies and objectives of the assigned department or area.
Must have the ability to work with statistical and data visualization software including R and Tableau.
Prefered candidate with teaching experience.
