Position Title: Associate Dean of Students


Salary Range: Teacher Contract


Contract Length: Teacher Contract with Extended Contract


Immediate Supervisor: Principal


Basic Function:

The Associate Dean will work with students/staff/parents to support the district-wide
overarching goals of helping students stay in the classroom/school, as well as maintaining a safe and
positive school environment that fosters a student-centered atmosphere. This person will assist the principal, as a member
of the administrative support team, in leading the school community toward a safe and positive learning
environment for students, staff, and the larger community to have and achieve high expectations for
success. Additionally, the Associate Dean will focus on supporting the implementation of MTSS supports,
both academically and behaviorally.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support daily managerial and operational tasks assigned by building principal and other administrative staff
  • Supervise and support enrichment activities, including before and after school programming and/or Saturday school
  • Work with staff, students, and families to guide and support them in understanding the MTSS process
  • Implement, along with building level administration, successful Tier I interventions through a PBIS school-wide system
  • Work with students, staff, and parents to develop Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP’s) as part of the Tier II process
  • Serve as an advocate for students to help resolve classroom issues
  • Research interventions specific to student needs and work with district and building resources to ensure implementation of classroom and building level supports
  • Maintain data specific to the Code of Conduct, PBIS, and BIPs as appropriate to inform student individualized plans
  • Communicate and form partnerships with parents and community
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student records and information
  • Monitor students in the morning at rotating stations which may include bus staging area, breakfast room, gymnasium, or other locations
  • Assist staff in developing strong classroom and school-wide management systems
  • Provide home to school communication and parent education systems
  • Identify potential resources to assist students in need of support to reduce their susceptibility to
  • disciplinary actions
  • Create systems of celebration or expanded learning opportunities for all students to promote
  • student success
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal as related to and allowed by legislation respective to the funding source


Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Enrolled in or completion of Administration Certification preferred
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience working with community agencies and groups
  • Experience with the day-to-day operation of schools
  • Strong knowledge of child development
  • Demonstrated skill in building relationships, trust, and respect
  • Creative and imaginative approach to problems
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups
  • Strong speaking and writing abilities
