Position Title:
Science Teacher
Position Summary: Teacher will be responsible for instruction of students in science. Strong classroom management will be needed to maintain a positive classroom environment. Candidate should have experience working with chemicals and hands-on materials that are included in the Purdue Science Kits. Candidate will work collaboratively with the Language Arts, Math and Social Studies teachers.

Basic Function:
A qualified teaching candidate will provide instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs. This teacher monitors student growth using the 8 step process, is competent using data collection models to assess and track student growth, and is able to integrate technology and the arts into instructional plans. The teacher candidate will be an effective classroom manager, able to collaborate with teachers, work actively with students and parents and communicate academic necessities for student growth.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach general science according to the Indiana Department of Education Science Standards
- Use multiple sources of data collection to inform instructional decisions
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to engage students in the learning process
- Develop daily effective lesson plans and complete reflections on a daily/weekly basis
- Structure the classroom environment to maintain student interest and engagement
- Maintain professional responsibility for planning, implementing and evaluating the process of learning
Qualifications:
- Valid Indiana Teaching License
- Highly Qualified
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary/Secondary Education or related field
- Prefer experience in the grade/content level during the past 3 years

COMPENSATION:
- Starting salary for new teachers with 0 years' experience will be $46,000 for SY24-25. Compensation increases with experience and education, according to the current salary placement schedule. (Placement to be assessed during the onboarding process and includes prior employment verifications.)
