Position Title:     Art Teacher 2D/3D      

Salary Range: Contract Salary

Immediate Supervisor:    School Principal           

 

BASIC FUNCTIONS : Assumes professional responsibility for providing learning experiences in the visual arts and supervision of students in a supportive and positive climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes and knowledge to meet and exceed the State Core Curriculum Content Standards, using approved curricula, materials, and directives of the school.  This position will include a combination of classes which may include 2D/3D visual art and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math,) taught in a project based learning format. Achieving academic excellence requires that the Art Teacher work collaboratively with other members of the school staff and parents. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:                             

  1. A qualified teaching candidate will provide instruction, support and guidance while managing the learning process and focusing on students' individual needs.
  2. This teacher monitors students' growth and uses the 8 step process.
  3. Competent in using data collection models to assess and track student growth.
  4. Will be able to integrate technology and core content into instructional plans.
  5. Will be an effective classroom manager and have the ability to collaborate with teachers and other staff that work actively with students, parents to communicate academic necessities for student growth.
  6. IT includes a combination of classes which may include visual arts and ceramics
  7. Other duties which will be assessed include:
    1. Use of multiple sources of data collection including the 8 step process, acuity and fluency testing to inform instructional decisions.
    2. Use a variety of teaching strategies to engage students in the learning process.
    3. Develop daily lesson plans for effective instruction.
    4. Structure the classroom environment to maintain student interest and engagement.
    5. Maintain professional responsibility for planning, implementing and evaluating the process of learning.
    6. Exhibition of student work each grading period
    7. Extracurricular spomsohop of extended day arts activities

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Indiana teaching license in elementary education  or art.

Bachelor’s degree.  Highly Qualified in the areas of Visual Arts. Applicant must not have had a recommendation for Probation Assistance on their most recent evaluation 



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other technologies and office equipment, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; kneeling; bending at the waist; lifting; pushing; pulling and carrying equipment, supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds; repetitive hand movement and fine coordination to use a computer keyboard; emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read; prepare and assure the accuracy of documents.
