Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to join our team. As a School Social Worker, you will provide essential support and services to students, families, and staff, promoting their overall well-being and academic success. Your role will involve addressing social, emotional, and behavioral concerns, collaborating with various stakeholders, and connecting individuals with appropriate community resources.
Immediate Supervisor(s):
- Principal of Assigned Building
- SBEZ Director of Student Wellness
- SBCSC Director of Social Workers
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to support students' social and emotional growth
- Provide direct counseling services to students individually or in group settings
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop strategies for addressing student challenges
- Conduct home visits and engage families in the support process
- Connect students and families with community resources and services
- Advocate for students' needs and rights within the school and community
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement behavioral support plans
- Provide crisis intervention and support during emergency situations
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution
- Valid state license as a School Social Worker
- Experience working as a School Social Worker or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of child development, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed practices
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to school social work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
- Proficiency in using technology for documentation and communication purposes
